Today on Let’s Talk ADU we discuss the benefits of building an ADU on a property. Everything from house value increases to what the space could mean for ones mental health. So lets dive right in. One of the biggest benefits an ADU adds is an increase in home value. This happens because the size of the ADU is added to the square footage of an existing house. For example, a 1500 square foot house that gets a 650 square foot ADU built on the property would now become a 2,150 square foot home, thus instantly increasing the propert value. This leads to some desirable outcomes such as being able to borrow more money against the property for other investments or getting a higher price tag when selling the property. An ADU can also be equipped with a kitchen and bathroom making it easy to rent out for monthly income.
Besides the financial benefits, there are a number of lifestyle enhancements an ADU can afford someone. These benefits range from physical health to mental health. On the physical health side, an ADU could serve as a home gym. Get healthy without the crowds and keep the garage clear for cars or other storage. As for the mental health side, an ADU could serve as an office for people who work from home. This small walk from the main house to the detached office gets one outside for a brief moment and not cooped up in the house. Don’t underestimate the feeling of being detached from the main house, the tiny separation leads to a better work/home life balance.
Thank you for watching this video on the benefits of ADUs, of course there are many others and it will depend on what each individual wants from their ADUs but this should be a good introduction. If you have any other question reach out to our Experts through our contact form, and “Let’s Talk ADU.”
